Joseph Bruchac is a highly acclaimed Abenaki
children’s book author, poet, novelist and storyteller, as well as a scholar of Native American culture.
Coauthor with Michael Caduto of the best-selling Keepers of the Earth series, Joe Bruchac’s
poems, articles and stories have appeared in over 500 publications, from Akwesasne Notes and American Poetry Review to National Geographic and Parabola. He has authored more than 50 books for
adults and children.
In April 1999, Joe was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award of the
Native Writers´ Circle of the Americas. He is only the eighth recipient of this award. He has also received numerous awards for his children’s books, among them the Hope S. Dean Memorial award, The Parent’s
Choice award, a 1995 Skipping Stones Book award and an American Booksellers Pick of the Lists award.
